Concert Promoter Scam Yields Big Money – Larby Amirouche Looks Further

January 15th, 2010

Larby has just learned that a fake promoter in Arizona, has pushed a Ponzi scheme of epic proportions. This man promoted his scam consisting of phonyconcerts to real investors and managed to scam $25 Million out of them. Larbybelieves that it wasn’t that difficult, especially since the man dropped names like 50 Cent, G-Unit, Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Mary J. Blige, and others. The man operated under the name Dezert Heat Entertainment, and allegedly told investors they would get a substantial return of their investment from ticket revenues. Additionally, the scammer added fake receipts, phony contracts and checks used to book the artists aforementioned for the so-called concerts. Larby is disgusted that the man, instead of using the estimated $50 Million dollars in total investments for concert promotions, purchased a fleet of luxury cars, a boat, jet skis, jewelry, and multiple homes with at least $3 million of the investor’s money, while promoting fewer than 10 concerts between 2004 and 2009.

Larby thinks that consumers are easily blinded by the glitz and glam that follows celebrities. There are many scams out there that tempt consumers by flaunting celebrity names, and that this type of story really doesn’t surprise
Larby at all. Check out more at larbyamirouche.com

Job Seeking Scams Plentiful In Tough Economy – Larby Amirouche’s Response

January 15th, 2010

Larby realizes that it is hard times for job seekers around the world, made even harder by the fact that they have
been heavily targeted by those who don’t have qualms about taking advantage of their hopelessness, trying to scam them out of that little money that they still have left or even make them unwitting accomplices in crimes. Larby points to many e-mail offers that are unsolicited, which fool the recipient into believing that if they send their resume or personal information in general they will be considered for a job. That
information can be consequently used to carry out identity theft, where
criminals can open bank accounts in you name or even register an address. Larby has read about another e-mail, which is sent offering a profitable job like mystery shopping, with one condition: paying an entrance fee. Upon payment, the scammers take the money and disappear.

Larby has also caught wind of the money mule scam. In this scenario, the  consumer applies for a job through a recruitment site that looks perfectly legitimate, but isn’t. The job in question is usually financial controller or
similar position that requires the user to forward funds on behalf of e-commerce operations, and without knowing it you have been recruited into a money-laundering scheme. Larby finds these despicable, and hopes government
agencies will crack down. Read more at larbyamirouche.com

Using A Scammer To Scam, Larby Amirouche Is Dumbfounded

January 15th, 2010

Larby knows that a lot of people have lost money in the Bernie Madoff scandal and it seemed like the perfect revenge when items were confiscated and being sold at auction, allowing consumers to get back their money. However, Larby has learned that scammers are taking the Madoff auction block to the next level. One auction house, Coral Springs is auctioning of Madoff items but the in reality, many of the items on the block did not belong to Madoff. Larby has found that there are many fake Madoff auctions along the east coast, from New York to Miami with the U.S. Marshals and authorities questioning their authenticity.

Larby thinks that before going to a Madoff auction, a consumer should check out the website. If it has missing contact information or is poorly put together, then most likely it is a scam. The Better Business Bureau also advises consumers to check out BBB’s reliability report online or download the BBB’s Accredited Business Locator so you can avoid being scammed. Larby hopes that people will begin to wise up, and that these scams will eventually dissipate. Read more at

Google Indirectly Profiting Off Of Scams – Larby Amirouche’s Reaction

January 15th, 2010

Larby thinks that Internet consumers should be on their guard as scam websites
are dominating the sponsored search results for many branded goods on the
Internet search giant Google. Fraudsters, mostly based in China, are duping
consumers into buying fake items such as Ugg boots and Links of London jewelry
that appear as Google-sponsored links. In many cases the goods never arrive and
customers’ credit card details are put at risk. Larby believes that even the
most internet-savvy shoppers can find it impossible to tell the difference
between a fake and a legitimate site. Victims complain that they thought the
websites were genuine because they had a commercial relationship with Google.

Larby warns that Internet consumers need to be very wary and should always
double-check that they are buying items from a legitimate site. Although Google
says that it will not knowingly advertise sites selling counterfeit goods, the
search engine performs few diligence checks on websites, claiming that it cannot
regulate the Internet. Larby thinks that Google needs be more proactive in
removing these counterfeit sites, and consumers deserve more protection. Check out more content at larbyamirouche.com

Housing Crisis Scams Are Abundant – Larby Amirouche’s View

January 8th, 2010

The housing crisis and economic turmoil that currently plagues the United States has led to many scams that hurt struggling homeowners. These consumers are being reeled into mortgage foreclosure rescue loan modification scams. Larby is troubled that these scammers are targeting homeowners who are struggling to keep their homes and make their payments. Victims are asked to pay upfront fees or provide personal information to companies that claim they’ll help the homeowner save their home, but who ultimately rip them off.

This is a growing trend throughout the United States, and it is understandable that during these desperate times, people would resort to desperate measures. However, during any crisis, people will try and take advantage of those in a precarious position. Consumers must remain aware of these malicious scams, and actively take measures to prevent them from happening.

Larby believes that as the economy improves, people will not fall into these scams at such great frequencies because they will be able to make their housing payments. Housing numbers have seemed to start rebounding, and this is a trend that Larby is glad to see. Check out larbyamirouche.com to find more information about this and other topics.

International Lottery Scam A Big Issue – Larby Amirouche’s Reaction

January 8th, 2010

A neSee full size imagew international lottery scam is spreading like wildfire. Average individuals are getting taken for vast sums of money in this new ploy, where fraudulent telemarketers based in Jamaica are making unsolicited phone calls to consumers telling them they have won a sum of up to $3 million in a lottery or sweepstake. Larby thinks these continued scams need to be stopped, but not enough is being done to put an end to them.

Larby has heard about similar events such as these occurring frequently in the states. The fraudsters often pretend to be lawyers, bank officials, customs officers or lottery representatives to try to convince consumers that their prize is genuine. Victims are told they must send money to pay for taxes, processing fees, insurance or customs duties to release their winnings.

If there is to be some justice, Larby thinks that the international community must step up its efforts to combat these scams. The victimization of innocent consumers should not continue to proliferate. At larbyamirouche.com you can find out more about how people all over the globe, as well as in our own backyard are getting scammed.

FDA Warns Of Scam: Larby Amirouche Is Worried

January 2nd, 2010

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has sent a warning out to the public regarding scam artists who are posing as federal agents. These “agents” supposedly pressure consumers into paying thousands of dollars in bogus fines. The scammers are targeting consumers who have purchased prescription medications through the Internet. Larby realizes how intimidating these scam artists can be, especially when they call up customers and accuse them of “illegally” purchasing medications and threaten them with arrest and jail if they don’t pay “fines”.

Larby understands that these scams are easy to pull off, especially when consumers feel threatened or guilty about what they have done. It worries Larby to hear about the endless number of scams that continue to make the headlines. Larby thinks that there should be more protection for consumers, and that there is not enough proactive behavior to prevent these scams from proliferating. Read more at larbyamirouche.com.

It is important that people report these behaviors, because many times people are too ashamed and the scams continue to happen. Larby hopes that consumers will eventually receive a break from the relentless onslaught of scams, and can finally feel safe about buying products on the Internet.

Larby asks Video Game or Gym Membership?

December 31st, 2009

If you are looking for ways to lose weight or just get in better shape your options are numerous!  We have always had the option of eating right, joining a gym, or exercising at home or with friends.  However, with the advancement of technology Larby has jumped on the video game workout bandwagon!  It takes gaming to a level we couldn’t have imagined.

Unless you have been living in a cave, you have heard about Nintendo’s Wii video game system.  Is it a game, is it a gym, is it a personal trainer?  Larby says it is all of the above and he is loving it!  The days of sitting comfortably on your couch, staring at your television while moving nothing but your fingers on a remote are being replaced!  Today you can get up and move and watch the pounds melt away while enjoying your video game time!

When the Wii first hit the market the buzz was phenomenal.  Everyone from Grandma to little Sally wanted to try it out for themselves, including Larby.   Expectations were high and for some the initial games were a bit of a let down.  People didn’t drop 50 lbs after playing the game one time.  It wasn’t the magic bullet that Americans want and expect these days.  It did however make Larby sweat!  Like any other workout at the gym or at home you have to put forth the effort to see the pounds vanish.  The technology was still evolving and Larby knew that it would changes lives as it advanced.

Once again Larby’s words held true!  Nintendo’s Wii is doing just as expected and coming out with more intense, comprehensive and fun games as we speak.  They are taking advantage of technology and incorporating the home web cam into the program.  Now you can literally SEE yourself on your screen and have the game monitor how you are doing the movements.  A personal trainer that can actually tell you if you are doing the exercises correctly for the cost of a video game?  Larby loves technology!  Now everyone can afford the luxury of personalized workouts without the expensive hourly rates of an actual personal trainer!

No more gym memberships, no more excuses!  Nintendo’s Wii has taken us from the days of Pong on our Atari’s to full blown interactive, personalized games that are enjoyable and effective in getting this country back in shape!  We can turn physical fitness back into family time and play the games with our children.  No violence, no confusing plots and weird button combinations, just interactive easy to follow games that any age can benefit from.

Given the choice today of a video game or a gym membership, Larby chooses video games and doesn’t feel even a tinge of guilt!  When your children tell you that they spent 10 hours playing video games this week, you will be able to smile and say good job!  The downside?  You children will now ask you why you didn’t spend as much time playing this week!

Email Money Scams, Larby Has Had Enough!

December 31st, 2009

We live in a global economy.  Never before in our history have we been able to communicate so easily and quickly with people from every Country in the world.  Although Larby agrees that having this technology is beneficial he wonders why it became a vehicle to scam people out of their hard earned money?

On any given day you can innocently open your email box and be greeted with notes from friends, family, and  business associates.   We spend some time deleting those obvious unwanted emails that should have gone to our spam folder.  Larby doesn’t mind having to delete junk now and then.  However, the criminals of the world are using their imaginations on a whole new level when it comes to stealing our money via email!

How many times have you opened an email because it said you won an enormous amount of money?  How about those emails that are offering you a job that pays three times higher than any job you have ever had in your life?  It is very tough to just click delete without taking a moment to read it just in case it is legitimate.  The creativity being used in the subject lines of these emails is enviable!  They know if you are looking for a job and they take advantage of this knowledge by playing on your needs.  What wonderfully incredible things these scam artists could do if they used their talents for the greater good!

What really upsets Larby is the fact that so many people have been scammed out of hundreds of thousands of dollars by these Internet thieves.  They ask you to simply deposit their checks, keep a portion of the money and wire them the rest.  Unbeknownst to you, that check you deposited is going to bounce higher than a kite and you will be stuck holding the bag (empty as it is).   They disguise this scam as an actual job posting.  You are to become their Administrative Assistant, or their Payroll Processor.  Actual real job titles that have managed to fool desperate unemployed people and steal their money.  If you have your resume posted on any job board on the Internet, you have or will receive these scam emails!

Unfortunately desperation often clouds our common sense.  If you receive an email that in any way includes transferring funds into your OWN BANK ACCOUNT, hit delete!  Do not pass go, do not collect $200, simply delete!  Larby’s disgust over these scam artists continues to grow as he hears about recently unemployed people that are now in debt to their banks for thousands of dollars because they fell for these job offerings.

Let’s not forget the emails that tell us that we won huge dollar amounts from a lottery held in another Country.  Larby reminds you that you cannot win a lottery or a raffle or a contest of any kind that you did not physically enter!  Do not be fooled by their claim that they randomly chose your email address to win $1.8 million dollars.  This simply does not happen!

The Internet and technology are indeed an asset to our lives.  However, Larby wants each of us to employ our common sense when being offered something for nothing!  Use your delete key, that is why it was invented!

Larby Amirouche Says Beware of Holiday Scams

December 30th, 2009

During the holiday season many people tend to show their generous side, and charity donations reach an all time high. Larby wants people to be cautious however, because many people use this time of year as a way to scam innocent people. Millions of organizations are out there soliciting at this time of year, and people must be sure that their donations are actually going to a good cause.

Larby Amirouche knows that scammers tend to use company names similar to ones that are trustworthy. Often these fake companies solicit consumers by phone or email, but it is important that people check the legitimacy of an organization before donating. Larby believes that it is as simple as going on the Internet, and checking out whether or not these companies and organizations are actually legitimate.

Getting scammed during the holidays would surely put a damper on what would normally be a joyous time. Therefore, Larby feels that as long as people are actively taking steps to avoid getting scammed, the issue can be effectively curbed. Read similar stories at larbyamirouche.com. Larby understands that scams will never be totally eradicated, but they don’t have to persist as they do now.
